< more substantial review to come later>

Benzini started up a campaign to 'shake, rattle, and roll' it out.

It runs natively in your browsers (assuming that it requires java to be fairly current as well as your browser) but other than that there are no requirements.

You can export a herolab XML for pathfinder, do a quick application and LITERALLY in like five minutes have a character in a fight.

I don't know how the DM side goes.. (Benzini can comment on that hopefully) but it was literally drop the xml file onto the site.. click in to add a portrait.. cut and crop it..and the fighter was ready to go. The sheet has a LOT of the rolls as auto macros. You can click on the portrait of you PC.. bring up the sheet. clink on a weapon and roll attack and possible damage, saving throws, skills and such.

-Kyrie Ebonblade: Musket Master 5/Grenadier 6
-Cindrana Longpath: Tiefling Adm Wiz 13/PFS Agent 1
-Baroness Roasa Del Noire of Lower Zanim Cleric 11/EoB 2
-Rhea Silverman Tower Spec 11
-Akim the Crafty Lore Warden 3/Trapsmith 4
-Boom Stick McKraken Gun Tank 1/Spellbreaker 6/Shield Mars 3

I would like to highlight the part about herolabs, by saying an xml export is required to play.

It looks like they are putting up a Kickstarter so that they can make a CharGen tool drop right into the site, so HL isn't necessary.

Looking at it from a business POV.. it's always good to minimize your reliance on other business platforms.

But that's how business works. =/

You rely on other businesses to provide platforms and products so you can produce your products and services. Plus, relying on another business platform means that you have much less to develop to bring up a new business.

So, I signed up for this in anticipation of the game listed on the other board... uploaded a character... And it looks like all the characters and campaigns are all just publicly listed?  Is there no way to keep your characters private, or keep the campaigns only visible to certain people?  Seems a bit odd that I can't find it.

You can make your profile private in your settings. However, that hides everything. I'm sure they will come out with hiding in the future.

After fiddling about with this a bit tonight, here's my opinion:

This is an amazing tool if you do play by post.  It keeps everything on the activity log like it's a message board, your rolls pop up pre-populated, but they're editable... Your move is set up as just another post...

For live games, it's workable, but I'd recommend a secondary method of communication.  The chat system isn't very flexible, scrolling is awkward... so if you miss something, it's hard to go back and read it... new chats bring you back down to the bottom.  Every time you want to speak in character, you have to select the appropriate button or tag, and you have to hit the "post" button rather than being able to just hit enter.

I will say, the developer is VERY quick to respond to issues.  I found an issue with removal of characters from campaigns and I had a suggestion about GMs being able to see private characters, and the developer fixed it the same day I wrote him about it.

So, for now, save it for your play by post games, but there's no telling what the developer may do if he gets enough good feedback.

Definitely suggest getting a client like Skype, Ventrilo or a Google hangout to help out.

Just saw this on Facebook

RPGWithMe
Today I'm pleased to announce that our virtual tabletop supports google hangouts. If you are a member of a campaign, when you go to the virtual tabletop, in the menu you will now have an option called "Launch G+ Hangout" Click that and you are ready to rock! I hope this makes your realtime VTT games more enjoyable. Have fun!

Well, I am gearing up for a new game, and was looking for suggestions. I want to use hangouts for the vocal end, (but check out the 'markup' section on the knowledge base of the site)
