General Lodge Discussion / Fond Farewell

So my job is moving to Washington DC, and I am going with it. I will be heading out 1 June and won't have a chance for any more sessions with all the moving prep and personal obligations coming up. I just want to say thanks to all the GMs, store organizers, VLs and VCs--especially Dominick and Matt--for three great years of Pathfinder. I have played at Learn to Play (Lutz), Anthem, Armada, Coliseum of Comics, John F German, Salty BayCon, Walk the Plank, HurriCon, ReCon, and Oasis 27/28. I have already connected with the DC metro PFS crowd, but I will miss this Lodge and it's Pathfinders. Thanks again. Roll 20!  -Matt Gann

I have started GMing as well, and it isn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. I have been playing with the Tampa Bay Lodge for just over a year now, so I figured it was time for me to start giving back.  It's actually kind of fun. I like it.

Matt, something came up and I won't be able to make the 28th at Armada.  Please remove Drugaard from the table.  Sorry.

Thanks for the inside scoop, Dom. I admittedly don't have visibility of all the efforts behind the scene, but I know that you, Matt, Kristie and the other VL are working hard on changes around the area.

Kanth,  I am NOT part of the Fl PFS leadership team, so I don't have the whole story. What I can tell you is that this time last year there were three sites with Sat/Sun gaming options on the Tampa side of the Bay.  Learn2Play in Lutz was very short lived (I heard the store closed) and Anthem in Carrollwood has gone into a recent hiatus.  That store made some significant changes to their once ample gaming space and converted it into retail space--effectively reducing from probably about 12-15 game tables to about four. The coordinator/VL for that site tells me he is talking to the store to determine the owner's intent in hosting PFS, but I, personally, am not optimistic given the store's recent business decision. That takes us to Armada in Temple Terrace. Kristie Schwyer (Florida VC) has done a great job of running/organizing two Sunday's a month there for quite a long time! But if you go to the forum for that site, you will read that she is looking for someone to step-up and take over coordination at Armada--I haven't seen any Armada game days posted since she announced the need for a replacement. None of the above answers your question, but hopefully it explains the current situation. I think that once Kristie's replacement is in-place, Armada will likely pick up again...I hope. I can't play during the week as I am lights out at 9pm and up at 5am every day, so I am counting on HMGS Recon and Oasis27 cons to (found on to get my PFS fix this spring.

Critical Hit Games / Re: Sept 28th @ Noon

That's what I thought, but reading the rules again I see that Andy is correct-- except we should be playing the low subtier as the season specific rules governing subtiers differ between season 0-3 and 4 - current. It is a paragraph or two further down on p32.

"For scenarios written in Seasons 0 to 3, when the APL is in between subtiers, a party of six or seven characters must play the higher subtier. Parties with four or five characters must play the lower subtier. In the fringe case where there are no players that are high enough to have reached the subtier level (such as a party of six 3rd level characters), the group may decide to play down to the lower subtier"

So to be in a situation to choose the subtier we would all have to play lvl 3s AND have a 6-7 player table for this season 3 scenario.  Any other 5-player condition that gives us a rounded APL of three puts us in the low subtier.  As I understand, the rule Andy cited would apply if we were playing seasons 4, 5, or 6?

Sorry to kick all this up--still learning.

If table 1 holds at 5 players, and my lvl 1 Fighter fighter drags the APL down to 2.4 (compelling us to play low tier), then I have a lvl 3 Oracle I can play instead--allowing us to choose our sub tier (1-2 or 4-5).  Looking at the composition of classes at table 1, that may not be a bad idea as the Oracle can bring some stabilizing and healing to the party.  I will bring both just in case.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I just bought my Salty Bay ticket and sent the receipt to Dylan (registration?) as instructed by the Warhorn Site. As I mentioned, I will bring my pre-get to Learn2Play this weekend, but I would like to develop a character of my own prior to Salty Bay. Any chance of getting some help with that?

Played my first module of Pathfinder last weeked at ReCon in Orlando....I am afraid I am hooked.  I havent played RPG since the late 1980s when I was in Jr. High and it was great to be back at the table.  I am going to be at Salty Bay con and try to get into some of the Lear2play sessions in Lutz.
