Welcome to MomoCon 2015!

Hey everyone! Venture-Lieutenant Andrew here from Atlanta, and I am here to tell you about MomoCon 2015! We had 4-5 tables going simultaneously last year, and the convention just continues and continues to grow. This year, they expanded to the Georgia World Congress Center, so the limit of our tables has gone up significantly! We will be running Pathfinder Society games throughout the entire convention, and if we need more tables, I will be adding them as I go. Hope to see you there!

Convention Information: With 15,000 unique and over 38,000 turnstile attendance in 2014, MomoCon is one of the fastest growing all ages conventions in the country. Fans of Japanese Anime, American Animation, Comics, Video Games, and Tabletop Games come together to celebrate their passion by costuming / cosplay, browsing the huge exhibitors hall, meeting celebrity voice talent, designers, and writers behind their favorite shows, games, and comics and much much more over this 4 day event. Whether you are an anime fan, gamer, comic reader, or just like watching cartoons, all are welcome at MomoCon!

Important: MomoCon has moved this year! They are at the Georgia World Congress Center instead of the Hilton Hotel.

Rules Discussion / Re: sorcerers learn spells?
« on: April 21, 2014, 05:52:16 pm »
That's why a lot of sorcerers (and oracles, and bards) go Human (or now Half-Elf since they can now get the human one). Their Favored Class Bonus is to add spells to their spell list (but it must be one level lower than they can currently cast), which is incredibly useful to expanding their versatility.

Rules Discussion / Re: Soulbound Doll craft construct
« on: April 16, 2014, 11:13:58 am »
You cannot craft constructs. While it is not explicitly called out, no crafting feats are allowed, and no crafting is allowed. I have included and bolded the relevant text from the organized play guide.

Quote from: Pathfinder Society Guide to Organized Play
Step 5: Feats

Characters select feats according to the guidelines in the Core Rulebook. Certain Core Rulebook feats are not available to Pathfinder Society characters. These include Brew Potion, Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Craft Rod, Craft Staff, Craft Wand, Craft Wondrous Item, Forge Ring, Leadership, and Scribe Scroll.

Neither the craft feats nor the item creation section of the magic items chapter in the Core Rulebook are legal for play. Additionally, except for specific examples cited in this guide or the Pathfinder Society FAQ, crafting of mundane items is not allowed in Pathfinder Society. contains a book-by-book listing of all campaign-legal feat choices beyond the Core Rulebook. Check there before taking any feats from a non-Core Rulebook source.

Rules Discussion / Re: Grease spell and acid flasks
« on: April 16, 2014, 11:07:16 am »
1. Yes, the initial save dodges the spell. There is a FAQ about it.

a. There is no damage dealt to the item, as the text doesn't specify it does that.
b. If they choose to drop the item or fail the save, they would no longer be holding it and therefore not take damage.
c. For objects, energy attacks are divided by two, and THEN hardness is applied. The exception to that is if the GM "deems fit" (or if the scenario calls for it) that the object should take full damage, such as a wooden chair taking full from fire damage. See the spoiler below for the exact text. But again, this particular application states nothing about damaging the item.
d. This is not an official rule, but I probably wouldn't allow someone to wash grease off an item or off the floor. It's not normal's magically attached grease to the object. This could vary from table to table, however.

Hello! Andrew here, friendy Georgia VL neighbor to tell you a little about a convention we are going to attend in Atlanta. Come join us for some Pathfinder Society fun!

"With over 12,200 people in 2013, MomoCon is one of the fastest growing all ages conventions in the country. Fans of Japanese Anime, American Animation, and Video Games come together to celebrate their passion by costuming, browsing the huge exhibitors hall, meeting celebrity voice talent, designers, and writers behind their favorite shows and games, and much much more over this 3 day event."

We will be running only scenarios, mostly season 5, at this convention. As well, we will be running the season 2 special Year of the Shadow Lodge 3pm on Saturday. We have been given 5 tables for the whole weekend this year, which is more than any other year! Exciting times!

General Pathfinder Discussion / Re: Pensacola PFS?
« on: February 06, 2014, 10:16:09 am »
There is a VL out there, but he runs with the Mobile guys.

I ended up figuring it out. There's a Warhorn for Northwest Florida where he could get started.

Thanks for the info!

General Pathfinder Discussion / Pensacola PFS?
« on: February 05, 2014, 05:05:12 pm »
Andrew here, a friendly VL in Atlanta. My father just recently moved to Pensacola and was looking for opportunities to play PFS in the area. I didn't see a board for Pensacola I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to help get him started playing in the area. He's so excited to continue playing his level 5 falconer ranger.

Thanks so much!

Hello. Friendly Georgia dude here looking at this con right now.

It would be helpful for us interested if there was a date and location listed in the forum post itself. That way we can quickly decide if we can make it rather than having to check the Warhorn. I sent it to some of my friends but the first question they all asked was "When is it?"

Resources for Beginners / Re: Inquisitor
« on: March 21, 2013, 07:29:32 pm »
Inquisitors are a really great class. The problem is they can be very complex to play, hence a lot of people shy away from them. They can do darn near anything, although not quite as specialized as some other classes, it rounds out pretty well. Definitely not for a beginner, though...although most advanced player's guide classes are that way.

Ninjas and lore oracles make a good base, too.

Actually, with lore mystery oracle, this could be great. With lore oracle, you don't actually need a whole ton of intelligence because you can get the revelation that allows you to use charisma for knowledge skills, and as well you can not worry about dex because of the sidestep secret revelation.

You could even take it further and take elf and get the ancient lorekeeper archetype so you can choose your mystery spells and still get charm spells. Only problem is replacing your mystery skills, which means you wouldn't have all knowledges as class skills.

Just a some thoughts.

General Pathfinder Discussion / Re: Stealing?
« on: February 22, 2013, 06:36:43 pm »
I would allow stealing to affect maybe something.

For example: If part of your expense during the mission is to pay passage for a boat (like 30gp for the whole party), you could perhaps steal that amount from someone (or part of that amount...that's a lot for common people!) and give it to the captain. I had a friend who had a similar story for the 5 gp he had to pay and ended up getting makes sense, and I don't really think it's explicitly against the rules.

But you wouldn't be able to keep the gold or spend it on items. Those items must explicitly comes out of your funds for the mission. Bribes and such, it may work, as long as it's within the same adventure.

General Pathfinder Discussion / Re: Could this work?
« on: February 12, 2013, 05:37:54 pm »
You could go Aasimar (I know, ironic) and take the Channel Force feat line. You would then be eventually able to channel in a 30 ft. cone or a 60 ft. line, still selectively. Plus, you get to push or pull them. Very feat intensive, but still a suggestion nonetheless.
